Best summer in how long?

posted by enigin in Uncategorized

Well summer is in full swing. I actually can’t remember the last rainy, coldish day we had here in Cornwall, UK. We have sun, blue skys and warmth, actually heat from the sun.

I have lost count of the amount of BBQs we have already had. Already I am sure we have had more since May then we have had in the last 3 years.

So far had a number of visits to the beach, some in hot sunshine during the day, some lovely early evening trips to the beach with a BBQ in tow of course. It is nice to enjoy this kind of weather. Peoples attitudes improve so much, they are happier, friendlier, more accommodating.

And then there is the World Cup - well where do we start. The atmosphere and feeling that adds to a summers day is a whole other story!

Enigin - Stuffed like a roast turkey…

It’s Monday afternoon and as any 9 to 5 working guy or girl would know, Mondays are never received positively! The weekend seems to be over before it had even begun, and some are still feeling the after effects of a spirited drink or two on Saturday night. And in some ways, the team here at Enigin are no exceptions.

But even though everyone walks through the doors with a fatigued expression and sleep in their eyes, by 10 O’clock everyone is in top form, responding to emails, making phone calls, catching up with fellow colleges. The atmosphere is always positive and you always feel better for seeing everyone. There is a real team spirit at Enigin which is so seldom now-a-days, and its always a pleasure to come to work - even if its just to see Sue’s crimson framed, pearly white smile!

Today Sam Williams, enigin’s stunning accountant and Sue Gilbert, enigin’s glamourous receptionist joined me for an incredible feast at our niegbouring restaurant. With fantastic food, great company and endless girly natter, it was a welcome break from my computer. But after finishing my farmhouse tuna sandwhich, salad and chips, AND the remains of six desserts, I’m now feeling rather full and exhausted. It was so tasty though, I just couldn’t leave it. After all, Enigin is all about conserving, not wasting!

No wonder the Distributors enjoy their Enigin lunches so much!

Enigin - The heat is on…!

posted by enigin in Uncategorized

There’s a flush of heated, but I guess you could say playful banter in the office today. Competitive spirits are running high as Enigin team members are frantically trying to secure the enviable title of ‘Best Enigin Blogger’!

Currently taking the lead is our Enigin tech guy, Ed. However, I am convinced he is only winning with the aid of his educated knowledge of computers and all things technical. He begs to differ and assures me it is simply out of good journalism that he has been such a successful blogger. Here he is pictured below blogging away while his fellow office accommodates look on in astonishment…and maybe a hint of envy.

Al, our Enigin designer follows shortly after. With his style and good looks (referring only to his blog page, thank you very much!) makes him a good competitor in this blogging battle.

And trailing tightly behind is our Enigin stock chappy, Terry McGuire. Constantly supplying his readers with yummy recipes and dinner ideas, its no wonder he is so close to the top.

And then there’s little old me stuck at 6th place. Not a terrible result, but certainly no contest to the top three. Should I give up? Throw in the towel and replace my anxious typing time for relentless tea and chocolate binging? NO WAY! I’m set on getting the title! Look out guys, here comes one little lady who packs a punch with a winsome word or two. Don’t get too comfortable Ed…!

Enigin - Quick Recipe For A Successful Copenhagen

posted by enigin in Uncategorized

I first heard about this through an advert on Spotify…

Between 7th-19th December 2009, about 20,000 people (United Nation’s bureaucrats, representatives from NGO’s, world leaders and accompanying experts) from 192 nations will descend on Copenhagen for what’s technically known as the “15th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change” - or ‘Cop15’ for short.

Their collective aim is to cook up a substitute for the Kyoto Protocol legal agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and prevent global warming which runs out in 2012.

The BBC has produced this easily digestible Q&A on the Copenhagen Summit - and also a handy guide on the positions of key countries involved.

Barack Obama has recently admitted the emerging consensus view, that unfortunately the talks will only conclude a politically binding and not a legally binding treaty.

Doesn’t this highlight the importance that is being placed on reducing carbon emmisions, and the growing concern over climate change and global warming.

Watch this video: A Quick Recipe for a Successful Copenhagen

Perhaps this recipe is not the most effective way of doing your part to reduce the worlds carbon emissions. It’s definately not the tidiest! But Enigin gives you the opportunity to play a part in solving this ever growing environmental crisis as an individual. With tailor made solutions that perfectly suit your organisation, you can be confident that your endeavors to reduce your carbon footprint will be made a success if you choose to work with Enigin PLC.

A Wednesday at Enigin

posted by enigin in Uncategorized

Its a late Wednesday afternoon in the Enigin office and there is a certain air of absence as you walk around the maze of empty chairs. A violent flu bug has crawled its way through the office. A few of us have managed to get away with a simple drippy nose and a crusty cough, while others have completely lost the will to live.

Poor little Hannah has had to hibernate under a tonne of blankets as she tries to recover her stolen voice. Sue has fallen victim to the bug too with her array of tissues. But she’s still got that infectious smile on her face so she’s not beaten yet! Hopefully we’ll see the back of this ugly bug by the end of the week.

The day has gone well for me so far. No complaints to speak of, and the time has drifted by at the perfect pace. Not too fast that I have no time to breath. And not too slowly that I could rip my eyeballs out and juggle to pass the time! (I have had days like that!)

No, today has been a good day at Enigin. A very pleasent atmosphere. Maybe that is just because the sun was out today for a change! Or maybe its because its the middle of the week! Or maybe its because our adorable postman Robin just arrived to collect our letters. We know its almost home-time when Robin arrives!

Bye for now!
