Let The Air Clear The Cobwebs

By Steve Hill

Here at Enigin we have the good fortune to live in a very beautiful part of the UK, in fact of the world.

Yes, when I am working in the Enigin offices, or pouring over news at my home office for the Enigin Plc news feeds I might as well be anywhere, just a desk and my computer in front of me.

The delight of living in the far South West of England is that when we have a little time off from putting our nose to the grind wheel we can delight in the beauty of the countryside and coastal areas.

Enigin - Where we are from

This is another Enigin Plc blog and you may stumble upon it and wonder who we are - so let me give you a little bit of background of Enigin Plc. Something that helped me understand where the company comes from and I think will help you see and understand us here at Enigin and feel more a part of it.

Enigin - Generate the Energy that makes you feel better!

posted by enigin in Music, Things at Enigin

‘I can get a record player, and a generator. Generate the music that makes you feel better.’ -Generator Holloways

Are you musically inclined? Do you enjoy a good strum of the  guitar? A mighty rush on the piano? Or even a soft whistle on the flute?

Speaking as an avid pianist, I can say without a shadow of a   doubt that music is a fantastic way of expending mental, emotional and physical energy. They even say music is a vital  key in motivating one to lose weight and improve fitness. Granted they may be referring to the act of listening    and dancing to music. But surely playing music would add a measure of encouragement too…?

After going to a recent concert, I found myself pondering over what might be a revolutionary idea. The lead guitarist had so much passion in what he was playing, he was all over the stage. Jumping up and down, running from one end to the other. Although clearly satisfied with the performance, he was evidently exhausted by the end of it. The amount of energy he secreted after that one show must have amounted to something. After all, if approximately 28,500 footsteps can generate energy to power a train for one second [source: Christian Science Monitor], how easy could it be for one energetic musician to power the kettle for 30 seconds?

Ergo, my theory is this. If one could harness the energy accumulated after an energetic musical session, and somehow channel that energy into small kitchen appliances like a kettle or a toaster, that could save on energy consumption, reduce the carbon footprint and you’d be doing something you actually enjoy. Not to mention that with every brew your musical skills would improve. Killing two birds with one stone! (as Ben Freeman would say)

Maybe not exactly an Einstein equation, but you never know…maybe someone will read this and develop a series of revolutionary energy saving products based on musical abilities. Maybe I should suggest it to the board of directors at Enigin?

I’ll let you know how it goes….

Enigin - Soak up your time like a sheet of Bounty!

Quick as lightening!

Busy as a Bee!

Skinny as a rake!

Expressions and metaphors are common place in the English language. It’s not unlikely that you have used many already today in your conversations with people. They are a highly effective tool in getting your point across quickly and in a way your listeners can grasp.

A good place to refine your skill at using metaphors and expressions are in the work place. Sometimes just a simple string of pearly words of wisdom can motivate someone to take a desired course of action. We are avid users here at Enigin. Even when speaking to people in other countries, the point always seems to be topped off perfectly with a good metaphor!

Someone who has sophisticated their competence in this field is Ben Freeman. Sitting only 2 feet behind me, I have a continuous feed of metaphors and expressions. Some are old classics that never fail to make their point.

Others are of his own originality.  Whilst providing a humorous alternative to the usual classics, Ben’s creative mix of words and comparisons are truly powerful. They really find their own application in this day and age of business conversation.

Here is one he used this afternoon.

I’ll make sure I keep you updated with his latest creations. (We’ll have a library going before long!)

Make sure you get your hands on a copy of Enigin’s Book of Business Expressions! authored Ben Freeman.

Here is Ben deep in thought as he edits his new list of powerful expressions:

Training Week

posted by enigin in Things at Enigin

Wow! So here we are. Its a Wednesday afternoon at the Enigin office.

It’s Training this week so there is that buzz of anticipation and expectation and the newly appointed Distributors voice their opinions on the program. Its all been great feedback so far and I have no doubt that these business men and women will return home with their belly’s full after such a feast of excellent advice and information. I have had the opportunity to sit in on a few sessions this week and the tools available are truly invaluable; a credit to those who have played a part in developing them.
