Enigin - This little piggy went to market…

Having the privilege to deal one to one with business men and women who strive to set-up and maintain a successful energy saving business with Enigin, it’s interesting to see what each individual places top of the list of priorities.

In some rare cases, potential business owners have put high importance on training or skills. But, as any successful entrepreneur will tell you, marketing is the number one priority in your business. And why wouldn’t it be? It is a fundamental building block in building a successful business. How are people going to buy without first being informed of your products? How are people going to be informed of your products without advertising?

However, despite admitting that marketing is a crucial number 1 prority, many businessmen and women quickly forget that importance and loose their desire to advertise extensively. Is it not true to say that when the money runs low, usually the first thing to go is advertising. But what a silly mistake! Why would you remove the only channel for getting customers?

I had the opportunity to sit in on a Marketing session of our Marketing Director, Troy Wrigley. It was two hours of my life that were not wasted; being a highly educational discussion of how important marketing is to a business and how to perfect the skill.

Amongst a wealth of beneficial advice and information on the subject, there were a few key points that stood out to me in particular.

One very big erroneous belief some business people have is the ‘So good it will sell itself’ notion. It doesn’t matter how good your product is, or how great it will benefit its customer. If you don’t advertise, you won’t get custom!

Think back to the very first marketers. Who were they? What did they sell?

Market stalls owners selling fruit and vegetables are excellent marketers. But what if you had the ripest grapes, the juiciest oranges and the crunchiest apples? Could you just stay at home and await the mop of customers coming to your doorstep? Of course not! You need to go where the people are! In the same way, when starting your own business, you need to get your product out there. Advertise to the maximum!

But just being in the public eye isn’t enough. You need to grab people’s attention! You need to send out a very clear and powerful message. Troy gave some helpful tips in how to construct your ‘message’ in the form of 4 questions. I was in awe of how simple yet effective these four approaches to marketing were.

I don’t want to spoil the session for those awaiting their Training Course so I draw this article to a close, but from sitting in for only an hour of Troy’s training session, I am confident that the newly appointed Distributors are now fully equipped to run a successful business, if (and that’s a very big IF) they follow Troy’s invaluable secrets to good marketing.
